DEPARTMENT: Legacy of Healing
JOB SUMMARY: The Education and Outreach Specialist will work in collaboration with the community to develop education and outreach strategies directed toward issues of intimate partner domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking; with the goal of increasing the community’s ability to respond to violence and crime victimization. The Education and Outreach Specialist will facilitate victim’s access to services and improve community safety by coordinating trainings and presentations, distributing information, and developing curricula, training materials and educational tools about available services and how to access them.
COMPENSATION: $21.43
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate Degree in Human Services or related field. * Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs.
- One (1) year of experience working in an office environment.
- One (1) year of experience public speaking preferred.
- One (1) year of experience working with grants preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver’s License. (Personal Auto Insurance)
- Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations. (Abstract Required)
- CPR/First Aide Certificate. *will allow three (3) months to obtain.
- 40 hours Advocate Core training *will allow six (6) months to obtain.
- Complete 8 hours of DEI Training every two years.
- Complete Mandated Reporter training, annually.
- Must be eligible to work in a designated Safe Zone per Title 4. Section 4.25.680
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a Contracted position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Work in collaboration with the community to develop education and outreach strategies.
- Develop curricula, training materials and educational tools to provide information and knowledge of intimate partner domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking.
- Create informational materials to provide victims with knowledge of available services.
- Coordinate and conduct community training and outreach activities (e.g. secure training/outreach venues, coordinate with training consultants, independently teach trainings, secure info booth spots at community events, etc.)
- Coordinate and plan monthly and annual events and raffles to raise awareness related to intimate partner domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking (e.g. Stalking and Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month).
- Create and distribute surveys to get survivor and community input on services.
- Develop social media posts, graphics, and videos for community education and engagement.
- Read and understand grants and ensuring all grant requirements are met (e.g. reports, activities, goals, and objectives, etc.)
- Attend progressive job-related training as required
- Drive company and personal vehicle to perform job duties.
- Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
