DEPARTMENT: Tribal Court



 



 



JOB SUMMARY: The National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) Act Records Improvement Program also known as the NARIP Program has a NARIP Records Specialist that serves as support and backup for the NARIP Records Coordinator by performing specialized court, law enforcement and other criminal justice records’ data entry and retrieval of records for Tulalip Police Department, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Probation Office and the Tribal Court.  Further, the NARIP Records Specialist will process legal documents and records in civil, criminal, domestic relations, warrants, dispositions, firearm disqualifiers and mental health adjudication. Perform non-judicial functions necessary for the operation of the Tribal Court.



 



COMPENSATION:  $19.82  *Applicant may be offered more depending on experience.



 



 





MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION




  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. *Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.



 



 



MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE




  • Three (3) years of experience working in an office environment.

  • Three (3) years of experience working with secured State and National Criminal Information databases (Department of Justice NCIC, WA Judicial Information Systems, etc.).

  • Three (3) years of experience working with court/legal documents.

  • Three (3) years of computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs.

  • Typing 35 WPM



 



 



REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES




  • JWIN/CJIS Security certification. *Will allow (1) month to obtain.

  • Must complete DOJ Grants and Financial Management training. *Will allow three (3) months to obtain.

  • Level 1 ACCESS certification. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain, followed by recertification on set schedule as determined by Washington State Patrol.

  • Must be a WA State commissioned Notary Public. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.

  • Must not be on probation or in any court programs related to criminal case(s).

  • No alcohol or drug related conviction(s) within five (5) years, or pending any alcohol or drug related cases.

  • Must receive and maintain clearance to use FBI databases and National Criminal Information Systems, which may include fingerprint-based background checks upon hire.

  • Must adhere to The Tulalip Tribal Court Ethics – Code of Conduct Court Employees Policy.

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.



 



 



TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This is a Contracted position.
