DEPARTMENT: Lushootseed
JOB SUMMARY: Teaching Assistants pursue their education in the Lushootseed language as a part of their job duties. Create curriculum materials, observe classes, role-play instructional activities, and mentored teaching of Lushootseed language and culture as directed. Assist with summer and evening language activities offered to other tribal departments and for the community. Must be comfortable with public speaking to a variety of audiences.
COMPENSATION: $21.43 hr.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of experience with public speaking
- One (1) year of experience utilizing a computer
- One (1) year of experience working with Native American populations.
- Three (3) months of experience working with children in a school/daycare environment.
SKILLS TESTING
- Hearing & Articulation test administered during interview
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver License
- Personal Auto Insurance.
- Must pass a hearing and articulation ability test as a part of the job interview.
- Negative Tb skin test or chest x-ray.
- CPR/First Aide Certificate. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a regular full-time position.
