DEPARTMENT: Tulalip Office of Civil Legal Aid



 



JOB SUMMARY: The primary duty of the Attorney role is to provide legal advocacy on behalf of a child's stated interests and wishes by providing holistic and collaborative legal representation to children involved in Youth in need of care cases at the Tribal Court. The Child Advocate Attorney will provide legal representation and advocacy for the client’s stated interests within established policies, procedures and ordinances.



 



COMPENSATION:  $DOE



 



MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION




  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school



 



MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE




  • One (1) year of experience working as an attorney or legal intern or similar position in a legal stetting that works directly with children and youth.

  • Two (2) years of experience with either one of the following; representing clients in civil cases, working in civil legal aid and/or representing Native Americans in Tribal Court systems.



 



REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES




  • Valid Driver’s License (Personal Auto Insurance)

  • Must pass Tulalip Tribal Bar exam. *will allow 6 months to obtain membership.

  • Washington State Bar License. *will allow 6 months from start date to obtain.

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.



 



TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This is a contracted position.
