Department: Finance


Job Summary:  Responsible for reviewing, validating, recording and maintaining patient financial files to ensure all claim reimbursements/collections are accurately recorded.   

This includes but no limited to: billing, billing issues, rebilling, and claim rejections, analyze denials, monitoring processed claims, addresses overpaid accounts and initiate reimbursements when necessary.

Works in collaboration with the Health System Billing team to optimize reimbursement/collections with Medicare, Medicaid and private insurances for outstanding claims and complicated collections.


Compensation: $20.13 hr.


Education Required

  •          Associates degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or business.

     * Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.


Minimum Related Experience

  •          Minimum of two (2) years working experience working in Direct Accounting, TCHS programs, codes and regulations, Medicaid/Medicare/Private insurances, verifications, insurance denials, reimbursement rules, laws and regulations.

  •          Minimum of two (2) years working experience demonstrated use and understanding of CPT, ICD 10, HCPCS and E & M coding.

  •          Minimum of two (2) years working experience with Explanation of Benefits (E.O.B) and Remittance Advice (R.A.)

  •          Minimum of two (2) years working experience of posting payments to open A/R patient accounts in a Medical Billing software.

  •          Minimum of two (2) years working experience with Provider One.

  •          Minimum of two (2) years working experience in a Rural Health Clinic.

  •          Minimum of two (2) years working experience in an office environment, Microsoft Office Products.

Required Licenses/Certifications/Other

  • Valid and unrestricted Washington State Driver’s License.
  • HIPAA training upon hire
  • The Tulalip Tribes requires different levels of pre-employment background screening for all positions. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of these background checks.
