Tribal Department: Treaty Rights & Government Affairs


Job Summary:  Researches, identifies, analyzes and tracks legislation on the local, state and federal level as it pertains to tribal sovereignty, treaty rights and a variety of issues that affect tribal governments. Develops and promotes relationships through networking opportunities with federal, state and local governments, including their agencies. Supports the Director of Governmental Affairs in achieving the mission of the department. Coordinates with Tulalips’ state and federal lobbyists in an effort to advance Tulalip’s policy goals through legislation.


Compensation:  $DOE


Minimum Required Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field. * Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.


Minimum Related Experience

  • Five (5) year’s legislative and/or policy experience at the local, state and federal levels

  • Five (5) years’ experience in public forums

  • Five (5) years' experience working with Tribal Governments

  • Three (3) years of computer operations skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office products



Required Licenses/Certifications/Prerequisites

  • WA State Driver’s License & Personal Auto Insurance

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.


Terms of Employment:  This is a regular Full-Time position.
