Tribal Department: Housing & Community Development

 

Job Summary: The Director of Housing and Community Development is responsible for the overall planning, administration and operation of the Housing and Community Development Department. The Director is charged with the development of policies and programs for the department. The Director is required to be an active member of a team that will develop a multi-year strategic housing plan for the Tribe that includes recommendations for maintaining and increasing affordable housing, workforce housing and home ownership. The Housing and Community Development Department prepares documents and administers all other necessary actions to enable the Tribe to receive any available public and private funds dedicated to housing and community development programs including oversight of expenditures of all funds for such programs and activities.  The Director will oversee non-HUD housing staff; including leasing and other nontraditional housing programs.

 

Compensation:  $43.15 hr.

 

Minimum Required Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Bachelor Degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Community Development or related field *Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.

 

Minimum Related Experience

  • Five (5) years’ experience with supervisory/management responsibilities

  • Five (5) years’ experience in Housing & Community Development or related fields

  • Five (5) years’ experience Program Administration & Policy Design

  • Three (3) years’ experience in writing grants, contracts or capital improvement plans

  • Three (3) years’ experience managing budgets and providing financial analysis.

 

Required Licenses/Certifications/Prerequisites

  • WA State Driver’s License & Personal Automobile Insurance

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check

 

Terms of Employment:  This is a regular full-time position.
