DEPARTMENT: Planning
JOB SUMMARY: The Planning Manager oversees all aspects of land use planning and permitting, ensuring that decisions are consistent with Tulalip plans and codes. Assists and advises Tribal members and other customers on land use matters, coordinates the review of building and development proposals, oversees permit compliance, and the Code Enforcement Division. Will administer and recommend updates to related codes, plans, programs and policies including the comprehensive plan, zoning, and land use code. Coordinates the Planning department schedules and evaluates employee work. The Planning Manager advises the Executive Director and Board of Directors on planning-related matters and participates in important Tribal projects as needed. Supports and oversees all necessary functions in support of the Tulalip Planning Commission’s work. Represents the Tribe on regional planning committees and in meetings with other agencies to advance Tribal interests, and comments on land use matters on behalf of the Tribe.
COMPENSATION: $36.86 hr.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Master’s Degree in Community Development, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Transportation planning, landscape architecture or related field. *Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Five (5) years of experience working in the planning field.
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Three (3) years of computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs.
- Two (2) years of experience with financial management, creating and maintaining budgets.
- Two (2) experience working with diverse cultures, specifically Native Americans.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver License.
- Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations (Abstract Required)
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a regular full-time position.
