DEPARTMENT: Planning
JOB SUMMARY: Responds to complaints and requests regarding code violations. Performs onsite inspections, engages with citizens and property occupants to gather information relevant to the situation. Documents impacts to the environment and surroundings properties, such as discharges to waters or damage to resources. Assesses hazards, such as pollution or unsafe structures. Prepares reports, compares findings to code requirements, and maintains records. Reports violations to supervisor for direction on how cases will be addressed or reported to other agencies. Conducts regular site inspections to monitor compliance with correction schedules to assess progress of open cases and enforcement orders.
COMPENSATION: $23.25 hr.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Mediation, Environmental Science, Native American Studies or related field preferred
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Two (2) years of administrative or customer service experience
- Two (2) years’ experience with Microsoft Office and Internet applications
- One (1) year of experience dealing with confidential matters and documentation
- One (1) year working in a position related to code compliance or enforcement, environmental science, construction, land use planning, law enforcement, drug related awareness, or related field

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver’s License
- Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations. (Abstract Required)
- Must pass an agility exam to determine if physically capable of performing the job.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a regular full-time position.
