DEPARTMENT: Forestry (Natural Cultural Resources)
JOB SUMMARY: Perform routine plantation maintenance to include pre-commercial thinning of young tree stands to a pre-determined spacing. Work on other forestry and natural/cultural resource projects and any/all other duties deemed necessary to maintain healthy, viable forests and timber stands.
COMPENSATION: $19.82 hr.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Three (3) months forestry and/or natural resource related project experience
- Three (3) months experience with chainsaws, weed eaters, brush mower, hydraulic wood splitter, wood chipper, and manual forestry tools
- Three (3) months experience with map and compass orienteering
- Three (3) months experience performing timber cruise plots and data collection
- Three (3) months experience using forestry data collection equipment (e.g. Laser, Relaskop, Prism, Data logger, Diameter tape, Increment borer, GPS units, etc.).
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver’s License and must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulation (Personal Automobile Insurance & Abstract Required)
- CPR/First Aid certificate. Must maintain as a condition of continued employment
- Pesticide applicator license preferred
- Must complete an Agility exam to determine if physically capable of performing job duties
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a regular full-time position.
